Steven Belec, MBA, MPA joined the The Guild for Human Services as chief admissions and outreach officer on Sept. 10.

In this role, he will lead a five-person team responsible for The Guild School day and residential admissions for students under 22, along with marketing, communications and fundraising.

Since 2013, Steven has worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, most recently as director of the Health Policy Commission’s Office of Patient Protection, where he safeguarded the rights of health insurance policyholders and patients of accountable care organizations. Prior to that role, he led the unit at the Division of Insurance responsible for investigating insurance marketplace concerns.

Earlier in his career, Steven served as director of health access and wellness services for the Boston Public Health Commission and managed outreach and education initiatives at Fenway Health.

A lifelong Massachusetts resident, Steven earned an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a master’s in public administration from Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School and a bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst.

He volunteers as a member of the Community Advisory Board for WGBH and is on the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth.
