A Night of Community & Connection

The Guild hosted an engaging community event in support of initiatives for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Event Highlights

On May 2, more than 80 guests from Sudbury, Wayland, and the surrounding area gathered to connect with friends, enjoy live music, share food and cocktails, and have meaningful conversations. These discussions and stories from staff reflected on the power of inclusion, belonging, and community, especially for individuals with IDD. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us!

Stories that Inspire

Maureen Costello-Shea, The Guild’s Chief Program Officer, captured everyone's attention and hearts with the moving story of a young man served by The Guild. After enduring over 100 psychiatric hospitalizations, losing his mother to suicide, and being turned away by numerous programs, he found a place at The Guild—an organization willing to believe in him when others would not. Over time and with meaningful support, he stabilized, discovered purpose working at our school café, and began building a life filled with pride and joy. His journey is a powerful reminder that every life holds value, regardless of diagnosis or circumstance.

Amy Sousa, The Guild’s CEO, built on the theme of building community and fostering belonging, demonstrated by The Guild’s exciting new partnership with Revival Café, aimed at launching a café that will provide employment opportunities for individuals with IDD. This initiative reflects The Guild’s ongoing commitment to dreaming big, creating meaningful opportunities, and fostering inclusive communities.
