The Guild’s consulting psychiatrists are well-regarded and highly experienced in providing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, behavior challenges and mental health diagnoses.

When at The Guild, the psychiatrists make rounds to observe behavior, interact with individuals and consult Guild staff members. The psychiatrists also facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss each individual's needs and address any concerns raised by parents/guardians and/or staff. Parents/guardians can participate in these sessions by person or by phone. The psychiatrists benefit from having access to behavioral data, school records and medical history, including a comprehensive medication history.

Guild psychiatrists work to decrease medication dosage and use whenever possible. They do this by working with the team to ensure the proper balance among behavioral techniques, counseling strategies and medications. These steps are taken to optimize each individual’s behavioral changes and promote a high quality of life.
