Nearly 150 adult residents, staff, families, and friends came together to celebrate the diverse heritage of the community. Residents and staff kicked off the event with a colorful parade of flags around the building. A long buffet of homemade foods, from banana puffs to goat stew, allowed attendees to explore new cuisines and share a meal. The main event was the fashion show where staff showed off traditional clothing from their home countries with well-timed poses and dance moves.

“The event was a showcase of the true origins, cultural enhancement and value-added diversity that our staff bring to everyone in true spirits or with passion,” said Mustapha Abdulai, The Guild’s Director of Adult Residential Services and one of the event’s coordinators. “We are because they are.”

Maureen Costello-Shea, Chief Program Officer added, “the event was a wonderful celebration of the diversity of our staff and families and richness brought to all by sharing our culture and traditions with each other.”
