Rose began her career working in the private sector with kids involved with the Department of Youth Service, then with the Department of Social Services (now DCF) in foster care. She spent 34 years as a licensed State child protection social worker with the Department of Children and Families working with, and for kids and families dealing with physical, emotional and sexual trauma, along with issues related to substance abuse, domestic violence and poverty. In the course of this role, Rose met many children with intellectual disabilities and helped them through their trauma and their transition to adult services. While Rose had retired from DCF in 2018, she decided to return to the field of human services and came to The Guild in 2019, teaching functional job skills and working collaboratively to bring out the best in each of her students. In her time off, Rose enjoys physical activities with her family like winter hiking, cross country skiing, biking, boating, fishing and going to the gym.
