Our comfortable, family-style homes accommodate up to five housemates, each in single bedrooms. Each home has a different layout, but all provide a safe, supportive and well-structured living experience every day of the year. You may feel confident and comfortable with your young adult’s care in The Guild’s adult residential program.
Our adult residential program shares similar features to our highly successful residential program for school-age children. Adult homes are located in suburban residential neighborhoods. The program is community-based. There are frequent trips to shop, to eat out and to participate in social events. We want your young adult to be able to participate safely and easily in the broadest range of community activities possible.
While living at The Guild, your young adult will have an Individualized Support Plan (ISP), as required by the DDS regulation. We tailor support plans to be consistent with Positive Behavior Support Principles. Key areas of support for adult residents include skill development in personal hygiene and health awareness, cooking and laundry, recreation, and social skills. Our long-term goals for your young adults match yours. We want your young adult to be happy, secure and exercising independence at home and out in the community.
Each home has a residential manager and each young adult has a nurse case manager. Our residential managers and nurse case manager work together to manage medical care – including scheduling and accompanying individuals to doctor appointments. Coverage is as follows:
On-duty nursing is available weekdays from 9AM– 9 PM and weekends from 9AM– 5PM
On-call nursing is available 24 hours every day, 365 days per year.
Health care is provided by community providers and The Guild’s consulting psychiatrist.
Our staff is ready to assist with health-related needs. The Guild provides staff with mandatory training in multiple areas – nutrition, first aid, CPR, positive verbal de-escalation techniques, use of Epi-pens and AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators). Combined with your support and input, all of our efforts ensure your young adult receives excellent health care.
Your young adult will enjoy living, learning and having fun in Guild homes. They are located in neighborhoods in one of these Greater Boston communities:
